A bit about me
I was born in Stafford (UK) in 1965 but moved to Birmingham with my parents and sister when I was 18 months old.
As a child I found it difficult to learn to read and write and left school at 16 with no qualifications and functionally illiterate.
When I was 14 years old I started training at Birmingham City Amateur Boxing Club and fell in love with the sport – you couldn’t get me out of the gym!
However, despite my passion for the sport I was unable to make a career out of boxing due to my poor eyesight.
As a result, at 18 years of age, I decided to become a boxing coach instead.
A bit about my experience
For the next 15 years I studied the art of coaching under the supervision of Frank O’Sullivan, one of Britain’s leading amateur boxing coaches.
On starting my coaching career, I made the decision to try and overcome my literacy difficulties as I felt they would stand in the way of me gaining my coaching qualifications.
For the next 13 years I focused on improving my reading and writing skills and also on gaining several coaching and sports related qualifications.
Having overcome my literacy difficulties to a reasonable level, I decided to go to university to gain a degree in youth and community studies and I graduated on the 15th July 1999.
I then decided to do a PhD in education (on a part time basis) on the subject of dyslexia – which I have now spent 10 years working on – I’m due to submit my thesis in August 2009.
Whilst studying for my PhD, I’ve also been working as an Achievement Coach supporting people, from a multitude of backgrounds, to reach their potential – this is something that I really love doing.
Why I got into this business
In January 2008, knowing that my PhD was nearing completion, I started looking for a new challenge to focus my attention on over the next ten years.
I decided that my next challenge would be to get into business, make a success of it in the shortest time possible, and then start coaching other people to do the same thing.
I then discovered the VMdirect business opportunity and in October 2008 I signed up as an affiliate with the company – this completed the first part of my new challenge as I was now in business!
Within two months of becoming an affiliate I was in profit – which in the current climate was a good achievement in itself!
From December 2008 to the end of March 2009, I’ve really made a success of the business.
I’ve hit all of my sales targets, earning myself a number of juicy bonuses along the way as well as creating myself a healthy residual income that I now receive each month.
I still haven’t got enough money coming in each month to really start boasting about but nevertheless I’m happy with what I have achieved so far – this completed the second part of my new challenge as I’ve managed to make a success of this business in the shortest time possible!
